The #1 Secret In American Business & Why The SBA Doesn’t Want You To Know It

During the past 10 years I have spent 8 years overseas.  Each time I return to the USA I am usually a little surprised that the economy has worsened, that airline travel is more difficult, and that secrets abound in government contracting.  Not the kinds of secrets that require security clearances, but secrets that aren’t supposed to be secrets.  Last November I returned from my third year in Iraq.  A few weeks after my return AIG failed, Lehman Brothers failed, banks were failing and all around small businesses were failing too….by the thousands.  I watched in horror as family businesses, the mainstay of the American economy that affects 28 million people were failing and I couldn’t understand why.  Having spend the last two decades in government contracting I knew that federal monies were available, but the small business owners had to ask for it…not as handouts but as sales for goods or services provided.  Let’s face it the US government is the largest purchaser of goods and services in the world and has programs available for small businesses.  Raise your hand if you think these programs are covered under the SBA or the Small Business Administration?  You are wrong.  This is the secret, the secret that the government and the SBA are not telling you.  It’s the secret I will share with you today…..

$700 Billion Is Available In Government Spending – How To Get Your Share

For the first time in decades the average American is aware of the national budget.  When President Obama announced his Economic Stimulus Plan gasps could be heard around the USA as the price tag was unveiled at $700 Billion.  However, what the public doesn’t seem to know is that without this recovery plan the amount of purchasing for 2008 was already well over $400 Billion.  What was the money used for?  Purchases - of goods and services - with most of it going to large corporations who buy these on behalf of the government.  If you are a business owner you are probably asking yourself the same question you asked when you learned of the Economic Stimulus Package:  How do I get my share?  Here are five easy steps to help you in that pursuit….

When It Comes to Subcontracting Size Doesn’t Matter – Three Reasons Why Even Small Businesses Can Benefit

Small business owners (SBOs) are often telling me they are too small to benefit from government spending.  I laugh when I hear this….too small.  I usually look over and say if you think size matters, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.  Quality, experience and adaptability are much more important in this arena than your mere size.  There are a dozen or more reasons why small businesses are extremely viable for subcontracting work.   Today I will address three of these.  If you haven’t done so already, please take out a pen as you will definitely want to make notes of this information.
